I believe kbin allows you to do this, but not Lemmy. Lemmy seems to be very focused on the communities aspect of things.
If both a group-centric UI as well as the ability to follow microblogging users is important to you, consider checking out kbin.social.
It's relatively young, so I don't think so. Though it started as a Lemmy fork, so maybe whatever works with Lemmy works with it? But then, thise probably wouldn't support the additional functionality.
But it's mobile site is totally fine.
Yes, kbin doesn't have a mobile application yet (I have a promising draft in the drawer ;). Currently, I'm observing the situation and considering adapting the API for Mastodon or Lemmy so that existing applications can be used with kbin.
I can hear the Fedilab devs crying in the distance as new AP platforms rise.
I'm currently using Kbin as a mobile website and it's not bad. Definitely waiting for an app though.
