One thing I REALLY hope doesn't make it into the clone... Rarbg made a point of claiming every single entry was seeded, despite the fact that pretty much anything more than a few months old was in fact not seeded and could only be obtained if another user came back. If you wanted to grab a TV show that had ended a couple years ago, you could bet that many episodes had a number of peers listed who were hoping it would be seeded again, but they never were. I guess I should clear out that stuff from my client now, but I actually have entries that have been waiting for up to two years because I couldn't find them anywhere else.
So if any of the devs are reading this thread, please don't insult your users in this way. Rarbg eventually became my last resort for finding downloads since I knew I couldn't trust if anything was seeded, despite the high quality of the files that were represented when you could get them.
Honestly, 1337x is like 500 times worse about this. I've tried downloading torrents of that site claiming to have 50 seeders, but they were 100% dead torrents
One of my side projects is https://torrents-csv.ml , which is backed by a collaborative git repo of popular torrents. I do monthly scrapes, and found that A LOT of these torrents have no seeders anymore, even ones listed on 1337x and other popular ones.
I've been getting pretty decent results from torrent magnet for awhile now. Really they just seem to collect listings from other servers, but their status of each torrent has been pretty decent.
Yeah that is a real issue. I strongly agree.
i wonder if they meant that they were al seeded initially, since RARBG was also a massive release hub.
anyway, I hope you're right.
They always seemed to have the active episodes seeded well enough, but every tracker should go through their inventory to update the current status on a timely basis. I didn't really think it was too much to ask that a file I started downloading a year ago, which had a couple dozen other people attempting to download, should have been marked as having zero active seeds in that time?
