I feel like this statistic is probably taken out of context. Like if you look at all of earth it's probably true, 1.7%. of people being intersex and 1-2% of people having red hair. But in places where people actually* have red hair such as northern and western Europe that goes to 2-6% and reduces to basically 0 in places where people of European heritage don't live. So basically what I'm saying is if you live in a place where you regularly see people with red hair you are probably seeing them more often then you are seeing people who are intersex. And the opposite being true too if you don't regularly see people with red hair you see intersex people much more often. Overall I think it's unhelpful in giving a realistic idea of the comparative amount of intersex people.
