People need to prepare for the violence that is coming. Really worried this could get really ugly. Lets hope not.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Agitate liberals until they realize they can't wait until the next election to act. I can't do shit by myself, but if all the liberals who are sitting around waiting for elections realized they have to act now we'd have a chance.

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But to reiterate,

So what’s your plan?

You say "they have to act now" but what actions need to be taken?

Are you saying mass protest? Armed rebellion? What are you suggesting?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think work stoppages and militant mass strike action would be more effective. The right cares about their bottom line. Hurt their business interests and they'll crumble.

The AFL-CIO should be aligning their contract dates for May 1st 2028. They should be organizing solidarity strikes and boycotts. They should recognize the NLRB is effectively dead in the water and begin planning for being made illegal. They should be arming their workers and encouraging armed picketing.

If Democrats weren't worthless, they'd use their close connections with the AFL-CIO to help organize. But they won't, because that would hurt their business interests too.

So we have to do it ourselves.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world -5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You say the democrats are “worthless” when they were the ones that got out and voted. The far left is notorious for sitting their smug, entitled asses at home- protesting for single-issue bullshit while everyone else busts their ass to stand in the way of a dictator-

They you have the fucking nerve to come here land lay blame at the feet of others?

That’s some Olympic-level mental gymnastics.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So, what's Democrats' plan for when Trump decides we aren't allowed to vote anymore?

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How the fuck would I know what the plan is? Do you think there are meetings? No, unlike you, I don’t presume to know what others are thinking or planning. I came to understand and accept that I don’t get to think for others a long time ago when I decided it was time to grow up if I wanted to have mature discussions with adults.

I also learned to see a straw man in the process of being built. This helps to avoid having to deal with the obnoxious bullshit that is guaranteed to happen if it’s allowed to be completed.

TLDR:

Stop asking ridiculous questions that are impossible for anyone to answer so they you can follow up with some ridiculous ‘gotcha’. That shit is only impressive to people that aren’t worth impressing.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So you just have blind faith in the party despite the fact that they keep losing.

Unlike you, I think we need to start making plans for ourselves. What are you going to do if they don't have a plan?

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So what plan do you have that has any degree of reliable efficacy exactly?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Labor organizing! I literally already said this: work stoppages and militant mass strike action and aligning contract dates. We run this shit and we can shut it down if we're organized. With or without the NLRB.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

And how has that worked in the past? People have been doing that exact same shit for decades. Even when we had presidents that didn’t dismantle all the departments that could have listened to you.

You’re wasting your time trying to fix the damage you caused. The only thing you can do is apologize profusely and promise that if we get the change to try again, you’ll actually help for a change.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The New Deal was the result of labor action, not the president suddenly feeling like a nice guy. He had to placate militant labor to prevent them becoming even more radicalized, like had happened a few decades prior in Russia.

In recent decades labor has been conciliatory and collaborative with the ruling class, now it must break from them and assert its own power. There's been a recent upsurge, but we have a long way to go.

Your only plan is to vote. Again, what are you going to do if you aren't allowed to vote next time?

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’ll be doing the same thing you’ll be doing, which will be nothing of any effect or consequence.

Rally all you wish. But if you all couldn’t make the change you want when we had leaders that would have been open to it, you’re not doing jack shit with one that is making protests illegal.

I’ll say this to you for the last time:

You had your fucking chance with the rest of us when we told you to vote. You chose not to. So, sorry- but… there is no high road for you here. You don’t get to pretend to remedy the very thing you helped to cause.

But go on and waste your time as you see fit.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

This is really a backwards way of thinking. There was a time when most people couldn't even vote, and it sure wasn't voting that won them the right to vote.

Learn literally any history I'm begging you.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

We’re not in historical America right now. We’re in right now. In the fucking present. Right where your actions helped cause the shit show we’re currently experiencing.

So how about you stop trying to change the fucking channel and watch the program you helped create. Accept what you’ve done here. Because no amount of “what about this,” or “what about that” is going to change the present day hell we are now facing.

Do you understand what is happening? I don’t give a fuck that “there was a time….” That time is irrelevant.

Wake up.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

History didn't end! History is still happening! You're living through history right now!

You need to learn from history to prepare for the future, but you seem to think there's nothing to learn from the past. It's bizarre.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Holy shit this has become too stupid to even follow along with. You’re trying so hard to derail the discussion that your straw men have built their own straw men.

We’re going to have to finish this here. I can’t stop laughing enough to continue.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

"Oh no, lost one election guess I'll die."

You have no plans but to trust Democrats and scream at anyone who says we should try something else. You think the sky is falling yet you aren't even trying to do anything about it. Just waiting to die. 👍

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

And you have no plans but to yell at buildings and pretend you didn’t help cause this.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I said labor organizing. We don't just yell at buildings, we can bring the economy to a halt. Bankrupt every fucking supporter of this regime and send the economy up in flames. I'm not just trying to organize mere protest, it has to hit the ruling class where it hurts.

Don't surrender in advance. It's embarrassing.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

And what exactly do you think you’re going to do that hasn’t already been tried and failed over and over and over for the past several decades?

Just like your useless protest votes- you’re not doing anything new. It’s always the same bullshit every time:

  1. Ignorantly think you know better then everyone else
  2. Cause the problem that others showed you how to avoid
  3. Feign innocence and blame everyone else for the disaster you helped cause
  4. Pass yourselves off as the solution.

So, no… I’m not buying it and it seems not many others are either. This shit is in a large part- your fault. We told you this would happen. THEY told you what would happen. You don’t get to pretend to have the answers here. You have nothing.

So sit down, pay attention this time, learn your lesson, and do better next time. If there even is a next time.

This discussion is now over. I have little tolerance for your generic and ineffective grassroots bravado.

Enjoy your last word. I know how important it is to you people.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

And what exactly do you think you’re going to do that hasn’t already been tried and failed over and over and over for the past several decades?

I told you! Mass labor organization on a scale similar what forced the government to enact the New Deal. Work stoppages, organized boycotts, slowdowns and disruptions, we can break the supply chain and make the economy scream. Stop being so fucking cynical, this has literally worked before.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world -3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

So… your plan to fix the problem that we were put in because ninety million people didn’t vote, and over three million people chose to vote third part is to….

Agitate people?

You agitated the shit out of everyone on the right AND left all the way through November. How’s that work for you?

Everyone had their chance to act. That was back in November- with all the people that were trying to save democracy by voting. Those people who sat hope with their thumbs up their asses can enjoy the fruit of their smug entitlement.

“Agitating people”

…..ROFL. Have fun storming that castle.
