this story is ridiculous and onion-like because they spent millions of dollars and years fear mongering about this, only for the president to go nvm it's actually not that big of a deal

Donald Trump says a lot of things, almost all of which are bullshit. This line doesn't 'signal' anything, and isn't grounds for optimism. He's still monstrous, and will still either endorse, encourage, or say nothing against all manner of cruelties against LGBTs and anyone else on the long list of people he hates.
