Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Good for you. Personally, I can’t stand living in the city nowadays. I certainly can’t justify that rent.

Right now, due to how long I have been there, I am paying less for a 3 bedroom apt than one would for a 1 bed or bachelor

Dang. Lucky. Is that rent control or do you own?

Rental, we have "some" protections for long term renters (note my instance :) ) like limited increases each year. I have only signed a lease to move in, after the year (normal) or 2 (we negotiated for 2 years to cut even more off the rent in my 20s it was a 3 bedroom garden home for less than 2 bed apts at the time) it goes month to month (still need notice to leave on good terms) with a yearly increase, limited to a max unless there is a good reason, then they go to the landlord tenant board (or was it the Rental Tribunal) and show why they need to increase it more than the allowed limit.

Sounds nice. I say, paying 2300 USD for a 2 bedroom in the suburbs.

It is. You will not find a place like mine now for 1475 CDN, even in the suburbs. I am scared to ask the other tenants what they pay.
