That's awesome! Now can we cover parking lots in solar panels? Thus giving electricity and shade in one of the hottest environments? I would absolutely give my business to a company that did that.
It would be so nice to return to a shaded, charged vehicle on a hot sunny day. Seems like a great idea.
I am quite furious at a local supermarket installing sun-shades over their parkinglot and it is not solar panels but rather a really stupid looking permanent tent structure that couldn't even be retrofitted with solar-panels. This is so stupid that I decided to boycott them over this alone.

Na, these ones are super strong and probably cost more than a solar panel installation would have, especially if you factor in the electricity it produces over time. It's just silly and was probably decided for by some boomer who drives an SUV.
Solar panels have ongoing maintenance, canopy’s don’t
Very little and canopies that shouldn't accidentally damage cars or people under them need to be regularly checked too.
I don't know why you are so hell bend to defend what is obviously a stupid decision, especially since you don't know the exact situation nearly as well as I do.
I’m not “hell bent” on anything, you’re just misdirecting your anger towards the situation at me.
I agree solar panels would be a smarter decision long term. If the cost:benefit worked out as more efficient than a simple canopy, that’s what businesses would do. But it’s a higher up front investment, and that’s the only thing the MBAs see.
I'd much prefer turning parking lots into parks, but this is a good short-term compromise
They need somewhere to park though.
People don't need to park busses and trams, and bikes are easy to park. The need to big parking lots is a symptoms of misguided and destructive urban planning
What? In cities skylines people can put cars in their pockets but unfortunately that's impossible in real life. Where the hell are the busses supposed to go then?
