Lots of great improvements. But as long as there is no desktop client they can improve talk as much as they want. Most companies will require a desktop client for their chat solution.

They should have used xmpp or something that let's you connect with an external client. Would have been much less work to implement (I assume) as they would basically be integrating xmpp into nextcloud instead of writing their whole chat back end in house.

IIRC the nextcloud talk is based on XMPP, though unfortunately not (yet) fully compatible to external client's
