Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

VanillaOS is very promising, but it has Gnome as the only DE option unfortunately.
I installed it just to see if maybe I was wrong about gnome being shit and even if it still is maybe vanilla is good enough to put up with it. I never fucking learn.
KDE user here. Never used gnome, why is it an issue?
it's "my way or the highway" but for gui
Just as apple user love it 😂 one has to add, that there are plugins that improve the experience a lot.
Seems so antithetical to the entire concept of Linux and FOSS
