DRM has never stopped me from pirating a game, but multiple times it stopped me from buying it.
I mean, it literally stops you from pirating uncracked games.
until they are inevitably cracked (which has been done with many denuvo games already) and pirates enjoy better performance once again.
That's the (unknown) future. But currently they are not cracked. Hence you can't pirate them.
I used to pirate back in the day and the fact that you no longer had updates or fixes was a huge issue. It's actually the number one reason I no longer pirate games. It's not worth my time or frustration to deal with a virus, bad crack or crashing game. Also since I stopped pirating I've had exactly 0 malware/trojan infections.
I pirate all the time. Until recently mostly on public trackers. Had malware once when I was like 12 and that's about it. Sounds like a skill issue. Also, most cracked games get updates.

I looked up Nier: Replicant and yeah, also cracked (I will not share as I think that breaks rules)

Hey, I don't judge. I might only pirate media I've already bought (like when I couldn't find my copy of a movie) but firmly agree with Gabe Newell that piracy is a service issue first and foremost. Additionally if you can't own the game you buy I can't view it as stealing. If there is a crack for Civ 7 or Dragons Dogma 2, I'll probably buy a copy then get the cracked version for performance.
I for sure play HL cracked days after release. I haven't touched the others though.
The only one I know is Street Fighter 6 (over a year after release too) but I'm sure there's at least two others. Your point is made, however.
