I don’t know anything from experience but be careful. I heard that in America places like Target will literally wait and let you ‘get away with it’ until it reaches some cumulative amount where they can charge you with a felony.

Most supermarkets in Australia now have cameras everywhere with some type of generative AI technology in place to help locate and identify shoplifters.

My self-checkout called over a supervisor because I hadn't scanned an item that was in the trolley.

Said item was my child, so the staff had to explain to the self-checkout to chill.

Pretty sure that here they can charge you for staging any amount.
