any people familiar with german/berlin politics? does this proposal have any hope?
As far as I can tell, this is unlikely to succeed. There is a strong progressive minority in Berlin to push for such proposals, so even the 170000 signatures might be doable, but I highly doubt that there is an actual majority for it and the upcoming newly elected city government doesn't look like they would push for it either.
Thank you for the explanation. This is what I thought as well, even though the article felt hopeful, oh well... It would be great if one large European city would lead by example, I'm sure it would make passing these kind of laws much easier.
