Why is it that so many people go to Thailand out of all the possible Asian countries? What's so special about Thailand? Genuinely curious, I've had many friends and colleagues who went.
EDIT: Any answer that isn't just sex and drugs? I've heard of families going with their kids. What draws them? Is it just low prices?
What makes you think my kids don't also like sex and drugs?
Safe and cheap, Asian culture, food, scenery and climate.
Other options in the area are less welcoming to tourists.
Thailand is also pretty huge. You can have a vastly different holiday in Phuket, Bangkok or Chian Mai. A friend recently had a 1.5month trip to SEA and ended up spending the entirety just in Thailand since it's so massive
