General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

MODERATORS

James Dyson who famously championed Brexit then moved his company’s head office to Singapore, and finally lost a libel case when papers pointed he was a massive hypocrite, has now announced he is cutting 1/4 of the UK workforce.

All this while parliament is busy swearing in all the new members.

In case you needed another reason to avoid his crap vacuum cleaners other than the horrible repairability and quality of failure prone components.

Henry’s are better, cheaper, actually made in England, and are cute too!

Also shark are great. I hate my cordless Dyson!

Came here to say my Shark is far superior to the Dyson it replaced.

When my Son carried it down the stairs bouncing the bottom of the vac on every step on the way down, it finally broke, little bastard.

I found a serial number on my broken base and plumbed it into the Shark website and had a brand new one delivered in days for like £65.

Much cheaper than getting a new vacuum cleaner.

Fuck Dyson

Plus, having a bag is fucking revolutionary. I used to empty a cyclone type vac pretty much every time I used it, complete with clouds of dust. Henry every few months I have to take the bag out and pop in a new one. No mess, no fuss. Plus, the bags have filters in them, so no having to clean the filters under the tap (again getting dusty) and wait a couple of days for them to dry.

And if you really want to save the planet and re-use the bag there are a plethora of options for re-sealing or biodegradable bags.

I had a Dyson for years but recently switched to a Henry and will never look back.

Absolute indestructible bosses, too. It's a good, simple design, that works.
I've even unblocked drains with mine in the past. (I have a wetvac now, Henry conservationists will be glad to hear).
