This project looks like it could come in handy in the future. Slightly off-topic question, though: How are these vacuuming robots if you have furry pets in the household? I've seen quite a few just give up after vacuuming a certain amount of hairs.

Mine will keep sucking until the hair has filled up so much it pushes out of the shoot on the bottom and then it just keeps going as if everything is fine in the world. Advertised as for pets but cant remember the suction power off the top of my head. There's also a filter that needs to be cleaned or you lose suction.

But valetudo is just working flawlessly on my dreame z10

Word of warning, make sure your dog/cat doesn't poop where the robot can get to it. There's a really gross image that went viral a few years ago where a roomba ran over a dog turd and smeared it all over the house. I thought "how often could that possibly happen?" Until our family got a puppy, who still poops indoors on a pad we put on the floor, and literally within two months it fucking happened. Dog pooped, we didn't notice, roomba got to it first. All this happened within three minutes. FUUUUUUUCK!

Surprisingly, I am aware of this. The exact same situation happened to my friend. Twice! His dog is housebroken, but he must've had an upset stomach while his owner was away. Best part is, when the dog wants to relieve himself while the owner's away, he usually does it in a corner of the room, one that would take the roomba some effort to get to. And by golly, got to it it did. On two separate occasions. And then it got to all the rooms and all the carpets.

As you implied, it's not as uncommon as one would think. Roombas need a poop detector.
