This article is basically a retelling of parts from The Dawn of Everything: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dawn_of_Everything

So if you are interested in more, that book is recommended.

Another book that would interest people interested in this kind of thing is Seeing Like a State - James C Scott.
