I grew up going to church but I'm not religious now and I never really understood this part.

Please, no answers along the lines of "aha, that's why Christianity is a sham" or "religions aren't logical". I don't want to debate whether it's right or wrong, I just want to understand the logic and reasoning that Christians use to explain this.

we dont. thats the point. because we just have no chance of reaching some level that god can accept on our own. Everyon can be rescued, no matter what they did, because nothing is worse than beeing distant from god. However i do think that people that commit horrible crimes generally dont give a fuck about some god forgiving their sins. it just excludes one another. yet this door stays open just in case this changes. ..until death or rapture
