If we were to rework how federation works between platforms, how would it be handled for things already in communication? Would existing instances be able to change it up easily?
There's so much we can improve, but I worry if some projects have already painted themselves into a corner. It's a pain to try and rebuild an existing community
Kinda like how you can't use the same domain name again
This isn't a rework, it's just a minor change on one end to display content better.
I'd think this would be like 2-3 lines of code needed to display already existing data.

I meant more so in a general sense, because from what I remember, Mastodon and Lemmy federation is a bit interesting. I think a community is treated like a user, which helps for some things but hurts for others
