I'm so excited for it, been following it ever since Garry Newman said he started working in source 2. It looks much more powerful than Gmod ever was. Too bad the way to get into the closed beta is a complete nightmare (you had to enter a raffle every day and have maybe a 1/700 chance of being selected)
I'll be the first to buy it as long as they don't mess up the monetization and turn it into something like Roblox. But I trust Newman, he hates that stuff as much as I do.

Nah the beta is specifically for developers, it's not meant for players. There are two ways to access the dev beta, either you show that you are a modder / developer on the facepunch forums. Or you try to get access in a random and fair raffle.
From what I'm understanding he's trying to make a platform that allows for stuff like Roblox to happen. Just that he's trying to make it robust from the start with proper, good tools in Source 2.
