Congrats and welcome everyone! Why are we expecting another surge next week? I've been a step removed from the news this week.
on July 1, most of reddit's 3rd-party apps will cease to function in totality if they haven't already
The reddit api deadline is July 1st, and most of the 3rd party apps will be shutting down on the 30th. This will likely cause a surge of interest in reddit alternatives.
We're working on being able to handle more server load. Can't predict everything, there will be bugs and issues; but doing more to do better.
I was thinking a few times this week whether I should just delete my 3rd party Reddit client app now, but I think I'll wait so I get to experience the shutdown myself. Strangely exciting.
