I've just rediscovered my childhood Gameboys, I grew up in the 90s and had an original, a color, an advance and an sp. My game collection has whittled down over the year to the usual suspects, Pokemons, Zelda's, Mario's and some other standards. But I want to dive into some games that 7 year old me would have brushed over. So what's your favorite game?

Goku Gekitouden

It was a never localized Dragonball game that is somewhat playable without translation.

The fighting system was pretty fun given the limited nature of gameboy. It was RPG/Action where you picked your moves before each 'bout', kindof like megaman battle network (except no deck to alter), and then once the bout started you "flew" through a 2D grid trying to get close to punch, or fire beams.

It's also one of the few Dragonball games where Beam spam is actually a thing, but also very strong. If the first move connects every other attack will land because they won't be able to block, but you have to fire a few blasts if you choose to chain so if you miss you lose a lot of energy and get stuck in place for a few moments.

Last fun bit was it had a reward for not overleveling, in that you only got to play the SSJ Goku bout against Freeza if you didn't overlevel.

I also cleared it's prequel, Goku Hishoutouden more times than I can count, just because the music in that one was banger.
