Yes, actually. They changed their charter in 2017 to reflect that.

[–] SCB@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

They want peace, so they invaded Israel and murdered 1,000 people.

Makes sense

[–] MeanEYE@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

So many people seem to have no ability to retain memories. Hamas calls for ceasefire in 2014., uses that time to rearm and relaunch another strike on Israel while ceasefire is still going on. Hamas calls for ceasefire in 2023., this time Israel refuses and everyone goes...aaaah murderers. What the actual fuck people?

[–] SheeEttin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Did Israel stop destroying Palestinian homes after 2014?

Hamas calls for ceasefire in 2014., uses that time to rearm and relaunch another strike on Israel while ceasefire is still going on.

Did the ceasefire include lifting the blockade? If no then it's meaningless.

[–] dangblingus@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This observation is almost meaningless. No one is defending Hamas.

This person was literally saying that Hamas is seeking peace.

Did you like, not read the comments or what's up?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@kbin.social -5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I didn't say Hamas are good guys. But the idea that Hamas doesn't want peace or that peace with Hamas is impossible is now nothing more than a bold-faced Israeli lie.

Plus you know the 1500 people they murdered and 125,000 they displaced.

Hamas doesn't want peace. Hamas was genocide against Israel.

Peace with Hamas is literally impossible. They are a terror organization pretending to be a government.

When did Hamas displace people?

Also of course Hamas doesn't want Israel to launch a large-scale operation into the Gaza strip. Nobody with two brain cells does.

[–] Meowoem@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago

They would if it would get other Arab nations into the war and result in the destruction of Israel.

The problem a lot of people seem to have with this conflict is they want it to be very simple, Palestine existing in a vacuum where they're just trying to live normal lives.. That's not really the ground reality, it's a nexus of complex bullshit with crazy influences from all sides and centuries long power struggles.

It sucks for people living there but it's not a reality we can hand wave away

[–] SCB@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No, Hamas wants genocide against Israelis and to set up a Muslim caliphate.

They steal money from the Palestinian people. They're thieves, murderers, and rapists, and view all Palestinians as expendable

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@kbin.social -2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

They're a violent resistance group. Doesn't mean they wanna continue fighting indefinitely. Not defending the murder of civilians, but the implication that they don't want peace is wrong.
