AA rechargeable batteries will always be interchangeable between all models of Xbox controllers that accept AA batteries.
Rechargeable battery packs may not be interchangeable depending on the design of the battery pack and on the design of the controller. I am fairly sure the battery slot design did not change between Xbox One and Xbox Series controller designs, so in they should be interchangeable. But its entirely possible there were minor alterations made that prevent this. I have not personally tried it myself, because I just use AA rechargeable batteries for my regular controllers, as my Elite controllers have an internal battery.
