Recently played Celeste. Nice game. Love it.
10/10? I had to rate it an 8 because many stages seem to be relying on precision, the action mechanics are full of bugs (super moves). Speed runners, and even the Winged Golden Strawberry are using these technics to finish the game.
What are you considering "bugs" ? Things like wavedashing or spikejumps ?
To me they are clearly not bugs. They are at best here by design, at worst emergent gameplay. And an amazing emergent gameplay ! It is clear, as you said some collectibles from the game can only be obtained this way. They clearly knew what they were doing when creating this.
(Yes this is my favorite game of all time, I'm a bit touchy sorry :p !)
I wasted so many hours of my life on this and the soundtrack is to this day on my favorite playlist ;)
To bad the sequel was Nintendo Switch exclusive and some odd Zelda cross-over. Maybe I'll play it on an emulator in the future :-/
It's an amazing game! I still play it from time to time to slowly get to 100% complete it. It still has it's own active (though niche) community and racing events: CoNDOR.
Regarding the sequel, it never caught my attention. First because it was a Switch exclusive but also then I heard that it wasn't as challenging as the original. The difficulty curve may be annoying to most, but to me it's the reason I liked playing it so much.
I love the original, IMO it's a timeless game. I intend to 100% complete it at some point and then maybe I'll try to join the racing community if it's still around.
