The biggest problem I've noticed with ship building is that you can only get certain parts from certain ports and if you delete a part that you got from a different port, just to see how it looks, you then have to fly back to that port to undo the change. It's extremely tedious to have to fly all over the place just to try out builds and designs.
There really needs to be a design saving system so that you can go back to designs you've already paid for.
Shop building needs some way to designate where exactly your habs will have doors and ladders when adjacent to other habs in a way that allows for multiple connections. Making full loops would also be nice. Being able to build the interior of a hab would be the nicest.
The design saving system also needs to allow sharing designs.
There definitely needs to be a ship marketplace where people upload their designs and can be listed by popularity. To download and use it, it would just cost you the cost of all the parts. Easy.
Sorta easy, except the class of the powerplant (A, B, C) should maybe restrict you from flying it. But that's separate from merely owning it.
I haven't tried ship building yet, but from what I read I will probably skip on this part until a QoL update / mod pops up.
It really REALLY needs a QOL update. What I hadn't mentioned in the previous comment is that sometimes the thumbsticks will randomly switch to inverted while I'm moving parts around.
Like literally, it'll suddenly change to up is down, left is right, etc. No idea why it happens.
