Isn't this the game where a scumbag bought the publishing company (possibly illegally using their own money), and then ousted the developers?

Whoa, I didn’t know that. I thought the game was well crafted. So all that work has been for nothing and the actual creators of the game won’t profit from it anymore?

Yep. IIRC, they also released the game's photo mode on exactly the same day the devs came forward about this, hoping it would overtake search results and hide what happened from the public.

You make it sound like a normal thing :P like he used his money to buy the company.

To clarify what he means is that the guy used funds from the company to buy the company. For details of how that worked out look some videos or text... I do not remember the details, but yeah is as crazy as it sounds.
