TL;DW: Always assume ~~Apple~~ any big corporation is up to something when they suddenly change direction like this.
My bet: You'll have to be a licensed repair shop and the licence and any parts will cost $$$ that official Apple shops won't have to pay (or will have reimbursed by the back door).
