Hexbear will be migrating to Lemmy (with federation disabled at first) on Saturday
(www.hexbear.net)
Talk about whatever, respecting the rules established by Lemmygrad. Failing to comply with the rules will grant you a few warnings, insisting on breaking them will grant you a beautiful shiny banwall.
A community for comrades to chat and talk about whatever doesn't fit other communities
On a related note, I only browse Local ever since I signed up here a year ago and iirc back then Lemmy itself sometimes had less activity than lemmygrad. Because of this post I just checked it out again and fucking hell it's grown.
If/when hexbear federates just between them, lemmy and us the fediverse should be over 2k daily users soon.
It's already there, lemmy.world alone is taking us over 2k daily users
I was gonna edit my post, because I clicked around some more and saw that too. There's even a Porn lemmy now lmao. Mad how much everything has grown. Is all of that from the reddit thing or has it been growing over the past year?
vast majority of it is from the reddit thing. It had nice slow growth the last year but it exploded the last couple weeks
Wild. I dismissed the reddit thing as some niche, performative stunt a few libs there would screech about for a day or two and didn't really pay attention to it beyond that. Didn't expect more than a couple handful of people making the switch tbh...seems like I was off by an order of magnitude or two lol
Hope hexbear joins soon, then the based peoples combined can effectively stir some shit on /All and scare the libs there
tbh I thought they might get bored and leave soon too, but it's honestly starting to reach the point where we're starting to see actual network effects popping up, I honestly think most of these new users will stay.
And I have the same hope about hexbear lol
Well it seems reddit admins stepped in, removed the mods of the blackout subs and reopened them. This pissed off a lot of people.
and now half the posts on Reddit are gonna be low effort garbage and bots. which is exactly what it deserves, but it's still a bummer for the niche subreddits.
It's definitely from the Reddit exodus. I made my account around the time GZD got quarantained, but did not do much with it because TheDeprogram got big. Now Reddit really fucked up and most 3rd party app users are jumping ship, myself included.
