A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

Honestly its better for reddit to die. The content is community created and it should be community owned. Sure the fediverse has some things people are not used to but the users are running the instances of the sites themselves. By us for us. The code is free and open source so if a new feature is requested it can be added etc. Also there is no big company demanding profits above all else. Its a labor of love.
It will take time but if many of the users who migrated stick with it it will grow organically from there
I really hope that people more appreciate the Fediverse stuff. After all, these aspects are exactly what is needed to avoid such Reddit and Digg drama from repeating again.
The current Reddit fiasco is a great way to now move the people off Reddit and to Lemmy:
It will be sufficient if enough aktiv users find fediverse more attractive, then reddit will just turn into a repost and spam desert. Like the follow function, only used by only fans bots.
