I successfully set up a selfhosted Lemmy instance using docker and subscribed to various lemmy.ml communities. But !android@lemmy.ml and !firefox@lemmy.ml specifically aren't loading any posts or (I assume) comments.

I don't see any errors in the container logs either. Any help is appreciated!

Basically, when you subscribe to a community you're asking for your server to get FUTURE updates posted to that community. You do not get historical backfill. So yeah, posts initially show up without comments because you're missing the old ones and haven't yet received any new ones. If you wait a while, you'll get the comments from the beginning on newly created posts made after you subscribed.

Ah, it was this. I know the Lemmy community is much smaller than Reddit, but I guess I was still expecting a bit more movement. But that's okay, as long as it's working as intended.
