I have yet to play the new season, but have been hearing it's been called "the worst patch in ARPG history," and wanted to know if this is the general consensus.

depends on how you play. I was having a great time grinding my rogue, often many hours a day with my friends ๐Ÿ˜œ. the patch hit and I realized hitting my arbitrary goal of reaching level 100 was gonna take a lot longer now. sitting at level 93, I realized it felt more like work than fun for me now. that's ok, I played the hell out of it and got my money's worth. I messed around in the seasonal content, but didn't really feel too engaged with it. the impression I'm left with is that it's still like playing a beta. I understand the need to adjust the game to keep it fun, it's just the changes that have been prioritized aren't what keeps me playing. I've since moved on to BG3 early access.
