“Hamas has reneged on parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an effort to extort last-minute concessions,” the statement said, adding that the situation had created a “last-minute crisis”.

...

According to an Israeli television report, Smotrich presented Netanyahu with a list of conditions for his support, including a pledge that Israel would return to fighting should Hamas manage to retain control of Gaza, and to strictly limit the quantity of humanitarian aid allowed into the territory.

Israeli media widely reported this week that the government was prepared to resume hostilities after the end of the first six-week phase of the truce, during which hostages are supposed to be released.

Almost as if genocide was the goal.

Chronic outages are a way of life throughout the island, where privatization, under-investment, and climate change leave the grid at constant risk of collapse.

Summary

During UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's visit to Kyiv, a Russian drone was shot down near the presidential palace.

Starmer met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss military support, NATO membership, and security guarantees.

Starmer pledged 1,540 artillery barrels, a new mobile defense system, and increased troop training to aid Ukraine's war efforts.

Zelenskyy criticized slow weapon supplies and acknowledged Western hesitation, particularly from the U.S. and others, on Ukraine’s NATO membership ahead of Trump’s incoming administration.

Hello, all

Having an odd bug for last couple months.

Campaign works.

Multiple installs on multiple drives.

All other games work.

Tried every compatibility version and double checked up to date drivers. Persists. (In the past Proton did not fix the battle issue, curious if shader purge fixed that)

Curious if anyone else has ever run into anything like this and if you have any recommendations.

Have a 3060ti

Appreciated.

EDIT:

Semi-resolution

Proton experimental. Battles load. Campaign runs like ass. If ever loads. Pretty inconsistent

Shaders cache turned off. Donload cache cleared

Summary

Utah has introduced strict guidelines for transgender girls in high school sports, requiring testosterone levels below 66 ng/dl—far stricter than NCAA or Olympic standards—and proof of ongoing gender-affirming care, which was banned in the state in 2023.

Critics argue the rules effectively bar all transgender girls from participating, contradicting the law’s intent to only ban cases of safety or competitive advantage.

Advocates warn the policy harms trans youth by excluding them from the mental health and social benefits of sports.

WASHINGTON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Advisers to President-elect Donald Trump now concede that the Ukraine war will take months or even longer to resolve, a sharp reality check on his biggest foreign policy promise - to strike a peace deal on his first day in the White House.

Two Trump associates, who have discussed the war in Ukraine with the president-elect, told Reuters they were looking at a timeline of months to resolve the conflict, describing the Day One promises as a combination of campaign bluster and a lack of appreciation of the intractability of the conflict and the time it takes to staff up a new administration.

Those assessments dovetail with remarks by Trump's incoming Russia-Ukraine envoy, retired Lieutenant-General Keith Kellogg, who said in an interview with Fox News last week that he would like to have a "solution" to the war within 100 days, far beyond the president-elect's original timeline.

A big disclaimer at the top here that I am going to be discussing familial death.

Hello to everyone reading this. Not sure why I am greeting you, the reader. Last week my maternal grandfather passed away. He was in hospice care with bone cancer and overall poor health. The lead up to being admitted into hospice was a sudden and unexpected turn. During my grandfather’s final days, my family set up a computer at the foot of his bed so we could watch shows with him. Regardless if he was awake or not I took time by his side and watched Enterprise. As an important side note, I have always lived with my grandparents (I’m Filipino; this is a cultural thing).

In the week since my grandfather’s passing, I have been rewatching Enterprise. When the show first broadcast in 2001, I was 10-years-old. I grew up watching TNG, seeing First Contact and Insurrection in theaters and going on The Klingon Encounter attraction at Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. For me, my grandfather was the Star Trek fan who I looked up to. I watched it because he did. So when Enterprise premiered, it was the first series I was old enough to watch in completion during its first run broadcast. I remember my grandfather being excited for “Broken Bow”. He let me stay up late on Wednesdays (and later Fridays if I recall correctly, when the timeslot changed) to watch with him.

Getting to watch Enterprise at the age of 10 to 13 (“These Are the Voyages…” aired four days before my 14th birthday) had a big impact on me. I didn’t realize till later as an adult when I finally took the time to watch all of Classic Trek and then all of New Trek (circa November 2023) how much Star Trek meant to me. You’d be hard pressed to not find me wearing a badge on a daily basis. As a Southern California resident, I drove out to Beverly Hills to attend the advanced screening of the Discovery finale in May. Then in August I finally attended my first convention: STLV.

I am writing this as my way of being reflective. Watching Enterprise with my grandfather is one of the happiest memories from my childhood. I miss my grandfather so much. Each time I watch an Enterprise episode, I feel like a kid all over. This brings me joy during a time of grief. I intimately associate Enterprise with my grandfather.

Someday in the future I want to get a tattoo of the mission patch in honor of my grandfather.

Comet ATLAS Before Sunrise

Comet ATLAS is really bright now, but also really close to the Sun. Outside the glow of the Sun, Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) would be one of the more remarkable comet sights of recent years, reflecting about as much sunlight to Earth as Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS did in October, and now rivaling even planet Venus. But the giant snowball is now so close to the Sun that it can only be seen through the light of the early morning dawn or the early evening dusk. Today, Comet ATLAS is at perihelion -- its closest ever to the Sun.

Summary

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey issued executive orders eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in state-run institutions and introducing religious exemptions to school vaccination requirements.

Morrisey claimed DEI initiatives foster “preferential treatment” and referenced the 2023 Supreme Court decision ending affirmative action.

The vaccine exemption policy overturns one of the nation’s strictest vaccination rules, which had historically maintained high rates.

Public health experts warn the change could threaten immunity levels and worsen health outcomes in a state already struggling with poor health metrics.

Hi everybody,

I am a bit out of the loop as far as cryptography algorithms and recommended key sizes are concerned. I have been using the same ssh and gpg keys for a long time.

However, I need to generate a few new keys (both ssh and gpg) that should meet high security standards (private use, but paranoid) and was wondering what options are the most common and recommended ones you are using today?

Thanks a lot to everybody in advance!
