The stock value of Netflix was based on the perceived future value as more people moved to streaming services. Now that there are more and more streaming services, Netflix simply has more competition. The assumption that drove its stock price so high is waning.
Unfortunately for consumers, the proliferation of streaming services means that every streaming service has to distinguish itself. The basic features are hard to innovate much more on, so we're seeing more and more exclusive content and vertical integration. Do you like Attack on Titan, the MCU, The Witcher, Doctor Who, Picard, and Wheel of Time? Too bad, because those are on six different platforms.

This is why piracy will never die. Even if you want to throw money on creators it just becomes unfeasible again. You will get people subscribed to 1-3 of these services and rest is torrent.

I tried circulation my subscriptions. One month Netflix, one month HBO,... But it is too tiring and annoying.
Piracy will always be preffered if it is easier and more convenient.

- raise the prices to oblivion
- take content away
- produce new original content of questionable quality
- region lock so many get to pay more for less
- introduce a fuckton of restrictions to extract even more money
- blindly follow other sheep-companies into the slaughter by sanctioning themselves out of lucrative markets for no reason
look how well its working, just look at them stonks
They didn't intentionally remove content
Rather, vertically-integrated competitors arrived that no longer wanted to licence their content to Netflix anymore
And region locking, at least in Australia, is the result of Fox and other companies already having exclusive distribution rights for certain content
Netflix is just like every other awful mega-corp in a bunch of ways, but it's also true that their hands are tied in some ways
Yeah they can't keep raising the prices. Especially when they now have competition. Altho the newcomers are pricing their services competitively to steal marketshare. If they were in the same position netflix is in now, they'd likely do the same.
