If aliens landed in my backyard and wanted to meet. It would between us. The politicians don’t represent us. Humans and aliens don’t have to do any “plans” that the government has for dealing with aliens coming to earth. It would be liberating for earthlings. Even if we get butt probed or turned into protein snacks.
