Seriously how is that ok? This is a major problem with the power of the intelligence and defense arms of the government. No one should be able to tell all of Congress or the president no and keep them out indefinitely. But they are apparently quite able to do so over and over.

I mean if I had to speculate, it's easy to imagine how this happened. Those in power were able to coerce the passing of such policies through fear and the perceived importance of military dominance, especially fueled by the manhattan project. But clearly there is more to it than just that.

But for that to have run rampant and frankly be abused from then on, it's just ridiculous that it's never been reined in in at all. That power is too powerful.
