What is libre culture?

Libre culture is all about empowering people. While the general philosophy stems greatly from the free software movement, libre culture is much broader and encompasses other aspects of culture such as music, movies, food, technology, etc.

Some beliefs include but aren't limited to:

Rules

I've looked into the ways other forums handle rules, and I've distilled their policies down into two simple ideas.

Libre culture is a very very broad topic, and while it's perfectly okay for a conversation to stray, I do ask that we keep things generally on topic.

I think that a people and community funded cyberspace would ensure that it is developed in the interests of people and communities. They would donate to projects that they genuinly were interested in and it would make them much more aware of digital issues. Do you agree with this? If not, then how should cyberspace be funded?

If so, does a good solution exist? Should we get everybody to sign up for a patreon account, create recurring paymants through paypal or through bankaccount? Does it not exist? Then what would this solution require?

People already donate to libre projects they like and projects like incentivised mixnets and meshnets use cryptocurrency in their financial design to both pay network operators and serve as a voting mechanism where they decide on the future development of the project. A third option would be sell goods and services like consulting and merch.

If we want to embrace a cryptocurrency, it need to be anonymous with respect to the world and the nodes required for transactions. And it needs to be private between sender and receiver. It also has to prove that it is truly green, perhaps more green than traditional banking. And it has to explain why it is better than traditional banking in terms of solving inequality.

For most projects the use of cryptocurrency is just to compensate operators and for voting purposes it’s not intended to be a peer to peer currency. There is oxen which is a privacy coin and uses proof of stake but it’s not intended to be used for payments there are a few vps providers and other merchants who accept it
