I can't read most of the article due to paywall, but I thought many dried fruits had sulfur something something in them to preserve color. I wonder if this is just an extreme version of that

Meanwhile in the USA farmers spray wheat with glyphosate a week before harvest and then we all ingest fucking herbicide in every goddamn food product
