Reddit Was Fun

My first comment on this site as well, thank you RiF, you were the best app.

Started using Reddit with RIF, used this for 7 years and stopped using Reddit now that RIF is gone.

The Internet is a river, not a pond. It was nice while it lasted, but we continue on.

11 years on Reddit and my mobile Reddit experience was 100% via RIF. No RIF. No Reddit on mobile for me (mobile was 95% of my Reddit use).

it was the best app for accessing reddit. it is gone so now I am done with reddit

So, is it a problem that rif is still working for me some how? I went into it to see the dead app and canceled out of every message prompt after the good bye. Now when I open the app, it works.

RIF was the only Reddit I knew....

Like most of y'all came over when 429s hit up our beloved RIF. Hoping I can learn how to use this number n a similar way.

As an aside was the API rate limiting done earlier than anticipated? Thought it was a 7/1 thing and not a 6/30 @ 10p EST thing.

Another Reddit refugee reporting in. RIF was how I reddited... It will be greatly missed.

I just woke up, opened the app out of habit, saw a 429 error, and uninstalled. There's an empty spot on my home screen now that I'll fill with LiftOff after a mourning period

Sad, my most used app over the years.

10 years on reddit, most of that through RIF.

It feels like I've been kicked out of my home by monsters.

Had RIF for the entire time I've used Reddit, about 9 years. So so sad to see it go, signed up for Lemmy, let's hope it picks up steam! RIP to RIF ♥️

I don't even know how long I used rif, but it was for the majority of my reddit time, and that is over 12 years.

Sad to see it go, but I'm also hopeful for our federated future. Reddit hadn't been great for quite a while now.

how is it still working on my phone?

I am still baffled that Reddit didn't have options like, ads in API calls for 3rd party apps, or paying Reddit users can use 3rd party apps. It feels like Google blocking me for using Firefox even though I am a Google One subscriber, on a Pixel, browsing over Google Fiber.

I used RIF for nearly a decade. Thanks for a great little app that got regular updates over the years. Talklittle, you are a great human! I will happily pay for your next app.

Also here after reddit is fun shut down. Pour one out for ya boy. I even listened to whatever the kpop song (jay park yesterday) posted on RiF's goodbye letter. Not sure how that song related to the app shutting down but I went with it

I paid for RiF about 10 years ago, and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. Big shout out to the development team for their support all these years!

So wait I logged out of rif because when I was logged in it was getting 429 and empty content... Now that I'm logged out it appears to work fine at the moment. What's happening?
