Not being able to change keybinding wasn't acceptable 20 years ago, it still isn't.

I also found it pretty ridiculous there isn't a close button in the escape menu.

You have to hit tab to bring up the quick menu, then hit the return to menu button from there.

Hitting escape and being about to exit out of the game is the paradigm for PC games. It's absurd to hide that functionality on a non-standard key and place.

The first review on the steam page sums up my thoughts pretty well. There are some mechanical decisions that I just don't know if they will mesh with the game they're trying to make here, like the crafting, the attack telegraphing, the death penalties, the UI "cross" a la Dark Souls. I really want to love this coming from the Ori devs, and it's got some serious potential, but those seem like things that are gonna be tough to change at this stage.

Why share a game with mixed reviews?

Because its good to form your own opinions, not just base them on reviews. I personally really like what I've played so far, and would highly recommend the game, even though I recognize it's an early access release with some flaws.
