With Wagner back in Russia, Putin is part of the way towards denazifying Ukraine, just need to pull out the rest of the Russian army to make Ukraine Nazi free

Am i remembering correctly that the Wagner group are overtly fascist?

[–] Kerb@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

most articles from before their mutiny refered to them as a neo-nazi or white supremacist mercenary group.

I also distinctive remember pictures of them posing with lots of ww2 era Nazi equipment going arround in the News.

Isnt that Azov?

[–] Templa@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Which is extremely weird that so many people celebrating this like it can be a good thing.

It's good for Ukraine in the context of the war. You don't have to approve of the group itself. Also, who cares if they're fascist? They're already bad enough just from their actions as a PMC group.

I can just see it now: world war 2 electric buggalo but this time the nazis have nukes.

Next hour’s news: it was an AI fake.

I’ll be honest, I have no idea what’s going on.

Yeah this is one of those conflicts where you hope they just murder the shit out of each other. Hopefully not too many civilians get caught in the crossfire.

Doesn’t Russia have any “good guys” that can step in and lead? I hear that Navalney is just as bad as Putin and Prigozhin. They have to have at least one person over there that isn’t terrible and can unite them.

[–] chaogomu@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Putin has spent the last 30 years killing or imprisoning any sort of "good guy" who could unite the Russian people against him. All that's left are the sort of people who Putin could bribe or threaten into working with him. Usually both.

They are on such a steep demographic decline that the country will Balkanize as soon as Putin is out and the far East territories will be taken over by China

I wonder if China has a favorite.

Oleg Tinkof for tsar!

On second thoughts, amusing as that would be, perhaps not the best idea.

Annex Russia to Ukrane. The people want to be together, after all, I've been hearing that for years now.

[–] assembly@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Dude I don’t think Ukraine wants them.
