Zorin OS and Linux Mint are the best distros for beginners, Zorin was the one that got me to use Linux as my daily driver, right now I use Fedora Kinoite, but I'm planning to switch to Zorin OS 17 when it releases on august this year.

Yeah I did once but had extreme issues when installing it. Had so many issues from drivers to whatever. They want to move users from Windows to Linux, user friendly but not there yet. I went back to Windows as I have some apps and stuff I need for work etc. Maybe one day..
A lot of people don't even know about Linux, let along actually install it on their machine. Really cool that you gave it a chance!
I would love to see a Fedora Silverblue distro with all the Zorin GNOME extensions.
I used to use it, but a nicely configured kde setup on any other distro is generally going to be a better experience imo. personally I've been on endeavourOS with gnome because I wanted to try gnome 44 but it's very much a different experience to windows versus the default KDE setup
I started with ubuntu, then tried manjaro and then arch. and just bounced around a bunch of distros (i mean, thats kinda one of the fun part of linux is it not lol). I landed on debian based ones for my needs. But yeah, i've been looking at endeavour for a moment it looks nice, and pacman is the better package manager too imo. i either go dwm or gnome, have not dabbled in kde yet
I haven't used Zorin. From what I've read about it it's issue right now is that it's not updated very often. I think it's main appeal is that it has similar vibes to Windows, which makes it attractive for people who want to try Linux for the first time, I guess.
The distribution I used when moving to Linux was Mint, which is also a smooth transition from Windows due to its desktop environment. Also based on Ubuntu, but is updated more often. It also works flawlessly (at least in my time with it).
Right now I'm using Pop OS, and I'm quite happy with it, although I am experiencing some freezes since a couple of updates ago...
I've seen Pop grow and grow in pop ularity a lot this past year. I will say, Zorin 16.1 is supposed to have regular updates supported until April 2025. I did get a software update that included something for the linux kernel. That being said, I would give pop os a try in the future.
Oh, I was thinking about testing Zorin, it looks nice, but I still want a regularly updated disto.
I've used PopOS a bit, was a pretty good experience, I'm waiting for their Cosmic DE to release, I hope it'll work well.
It does look beautiful! I didn't mean to discourage anyone from trying it out. I just remember hearing/reading that it is not updated very regularly, but hey, I used an LTS system for way longer than I should have and I was perfectly happy with it. It's not always about having the latest, must updated software. Maybe you want something stable, or something that looks nice and works. To each his own, I say.
I'm also excited about the Cosmic DE! My issue is that I try to not change my system unless I have too, since I use my computer mainly for work and loosing a couple of days setting everything up is more work that it's worth it for me. So I don't know when I'll get a chance to try it out.
Yeah I'll try it, I will probably do some distro hopping, I think between Fedora / Silverblue / Nobara, PopOS and Zorin.
True, better to not change too many things and avoid screwing your setup lol
I'm a Debian purest any more. I have used a bunch of different distros over the years and just keep coming back.
Are you meaning debian based distros? Or debian.org debian?
Straight up Debian.org. vanilla.
That sounds rad as fuck. Gnome or something else?
Now window managers are sharing I never seem to be able to settle on. Currently KDE, but gnome is good, and I used Fluxbox for a long time.
Back in the day I was a big fan of Gentoo and enlightenment as my wm system
