I've no idea! But they did talk so much about "smaller online communities" with their "own different rules and topics of discussion". Like... how is this not a description of the fediverse!
Just a theory, but my guess is that the channel is beholden to youtube/google and therefore any harsh criticism or demonizing the platform is being avoided?

I care. Especially when it's a channel with 21 million plus subscribers, most of which are interested in science. Science leaning individuals are less likely to be morons, don't you think? More science leaning individuals joining the fediverse = better content on it = better experience for all of us. So yeah... speak for yourself.
