I find that the goal of getting to ng+10 seems insanely boring. Sure you get that cool perk but I haven't seen a Bethesda game this repetitive since oblivion. I'll probably give up half way and just start modding the hell out of it.

I did one NG+ run where I took the cut down quest option and speedran the temples. That rang kind of hollow, so I've not done it since.
Currently new arrived at NG+4 and taking my time about things, I dunno if Ill get to 10, or if I'll get bored and launch a whole new character, but I'm having fun at least.
Going by the story DLCs for Fallout 4 and Skyrim, I'd expect it to be mostly orthogonal to the main quest so that players can experience it regardless of how far along they are.
The DLC could require getting to some point in the "first act" (e.g: meeting constellation, or finding the first temple), but it seems very unlikely that it'll require us to even know about the unity.
My guess is that one of the DLCs will be about House Va'ruun and take us to Va'ruun'kai.
I did this, because I felt everything would be pointless before that. I knew I would want to do it eventually. It was quite a boring grind, but I got each reset down to about 30 minutes and did about two a session. It feels like a game design failure. I did use the console to get all my wealth back, because I invested way too much into my first play through before finding out there was a new game plus. I'm hoping for a mod in the future that lets you "reset" without losing anything.
Keep a save at NG+9?
I've seen spots here and there that hint at where DLCs might be targeted. Someone in the Key had a line of dialog that hints at future quests. There's also a few "closed" businesses that make me think one of the DLCs will involve you opening up a mercantile of some sort.
I can't think of anything for which I would dislike an expansion.
