I wonder if they're moving to KBin or even Mastodon instead, and that explains the dip in Lemmy specifically.

That's the Neat Part, You Don't.
It doesn't really matter lol. We all know that there was going to be a drop of users, because many of them came because of the 3rd Party Apps trend on Reddit, and they didn't get used to it or they didn't like the platform.
I'm on my 3rd account....
In reality, things don't always go "Up and to the right" and nor do they always need to. My thoughts anyway.
Now that the 3rd app ban has been implemented, people I know are already moving away from reddit.
Who cares? I'm here, you're all here, and for now the content I see is pretty good quality compared to alternatives. I'm of the mindset that too many users can be just as bad for a site like lemmy as too few.
