I'm a bit confused about if I needed a new account here or I could of used my mastodon account? Can we browse lemmy through mastodon and post? Can we see mastodon posts here?

How does Kbin / Lemmy connect to the rest of the fediverse?

Using this protocol

I meant from a users point of view? is there a way to combine our usage of lemmy / kbin and mastodon?

You can add this group @fediverse@kbin.social from Mastodon and see and interact with all the posts. Mastodon doesn't (of course) have some of the functions, like threading, upvotes/downvote etc, so the experience might not be as good.

Similarly on Kbin, you can follow people from Mastodon - their posts end up in the Microblog section

Interesting, I can't. What I can do is find and follow @fediverse, but I can't see any post

There’s no backfilling. You’ll only see new content.
