You can also put the URL into archive.org and go to the oldest archive or disable Javascript in the site settings.

I find archive.org tends to be a bit of a hit and miss nowadays unfortunately. I've had more luck with archive.ph for stuff like FT for example.

If it's from a major news site that has a paywall it should have an archive.
