Off-topic: the Mastodon federation with Lemmy is awkward as fuck. Ugly markdown links get added to thread titles, and very often there are misunderstandings as they believe they're tagging official accounts.
@AlmightySnoo I'm really sorry if this is something wrong done from my side.I'm using Official Mastodon app and just tagged @ android@lemmy.world . I hope I'm not on wrong thread for this π .Also I don't see any added links from this Mastodon app π°
It's obviously not your fault as that's the state of Mastodon <=> Lemmy federation right now and this is how threads appear on our end:
And don't worry you're in the right community π (assuming you didn't indeed look for an official one managed by Google as that doesn't exist)
As for your question, I don't know about that process, but a quick Google search yields this source file: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/services/Telephony/+/master/src/com/android/phone/vvm/RemoteVvmTaskManager.java
and when you scroll further down there's this comment that explains its purpose:
And here's the doc entry for Visual Voicemail: https://source.android.com/docs/core/permissions/voicemail
tl;dr: It's not suspicious, it's part of the Android OS.
@AlmightySnoo Thank you so much for the clear and detailed answer β€οΈ I did search through that docs earlier but wasn't able to find these exact answers π₯²
The reason why asked was this process keeps on restarting on my device (disabled all google apps so don't know if it have something to do with that) and also its name "remote vvm" got me suspiciousπ₯²π₯²π
And about Lemmy-Mastodon federation,I have viewed from the browser and saw it π·.
This Thread is pefect π₯° and Thank you Again. ππΎππΎ Cheers!
