Super Smash Bros (every incarnation). Never got the hype
I think it's that Ssb is a Tekken/Street Fighter-type game for people who grew up in the nintendoverse ๐ I don't own Smash Bros but will play if i link-up with friends who do & wish to play.
I personally like: the colours; the fact it's "clean" and PG; the music (it's arcade fun!) ; the characters ive grown up with & others from games i never played but now make me curious.
As a concrete example, i never rly knew much about Starfox or Metroid but when I played smash bros with my friends who used fox & falco or Samus Aran they looked fun. It didn't lead to much but I did end up learning more about their respective games.
Ditto goes for Shiek from Zelda & that numbers guy Mr Game & Watch ๐คฃ๐ญ The memories !!

That's true, might not have gotten into Metroid later without playing this one. Good point!
