Preliminary entries have been posted today (subject to change at the final entry stage, deadline November 6) for 2024 WC in Bahrain, Dec 6-15. Lasha is entered as a reserve, so he might lift in Bahrain on the last day, Sunday Dec 15.

Akbar Djuraev and Yauheni Tsikhantsou are entered at 102, so are Meso and Lesman, plus Nurgissa Adiletuly from Kazakhstan after serving his doping suspension (he led the rankings when he was popped but was suspended for less than two years after arguing a tainted-supplement offence). But there's no Liu Huanhua, and no Olympic champions at all for China. Pei Xinyi and Liao Guifang are both in, along with a lot of newcomers at the WC level.

The women's super-heavy for China, Li Yan, age 20, has a 300 entry total.

There's a surprise at 96. Kianoush Rostami, 2016 Olympic 85kg champion for Iran but dropped from the team for Paris qualifying, is back aged 33. He has the top entry total on 390, for Kosovo. Hoping to find out more about that. He last competed in May 2023.

Kate Vibert and Mattie Rogers are among the USA entries, as are all the others you'd expect to see.

North Korea has a very strong team.

Rizki and Rahmat in ame category, 81, but may not both stay there.

Lots more to digest. More than 1,000 entries at this stage.

If this is against the rules sorry. If you didn’t see it somebody posted this. Not trying to witch hunt that guy because he seemed to be asking genuinely but it was a funny question

“This is just something I have been thinking about and I absolutely mean no harm by it, I just wanna hear your thoughts on this.

So basicly I'm an average powerlifter and I tried a bit of weightlifting and I think it's mostly just using momentum and speed which is basicly ego lifting. If we take a look at clean and jerk you use momentum to turn over the weight and then again momentum to press it? What is the point of this sport? This is not 100% strict. This doesn't show any strength?

Also if you wanna look good you do boodybuilding. If you wanna get stronger you do powerlifting, strongman etc. But here you're just using your legs even to press the weight? It's the same as if somebody is teaching me how to use legs and how to lean back on bicepcuurls to do as most weight as possible? Or how to drop on squat and use gravity to bounce up to squat more weight? It's like somebody teaching me how to bounce weight from my chest when doing beenchpress to do more weight?

I really wanna understand the point behind weightlifting, because it just doesn't make sense. If I'm leaning back when doing biceps or if im bouncing the weight when doing beenchpress it's called ego lifting but clean and jerk is considered an exercise? Wouldn't it be better to have front squat into overhead press instead of clean and jerk? Again I mean no harm, I just want to understand this sport. I hate using momentum when training, I wanna use 100% muscle.”
