Hi! I created this community in hope that one day people will switch to Lemmy. I knew centralized social networks like Reddit are evil and greedy and I knew that they will, one day, die.

I'm really happy to see people fill this place with content. I honestly don't know how to moderate stuff. I'm okay with giving people that I trust admin permissions.

Have fun ❤️❤️❤️

15 years ago a video from Johnny Lee demonstrating head tracking pseudo-3D (i.e. perspective correction, not stereoscopic) using a Wiimote. I remember a bunch of other tech demos popping up a little later (e.g. Sony had one using their camera and face tracking, Microsoft did something with Kinect in Forza).

A modern alternative is TrackIR/OpenTrack, which can do the head tracking, but as far as I know, most of the games use them for looking around the cockpit in flightsims, they aren't used to achieve this pseudo-3D effect.

Are there any modern applications that make use of this kind of head-tracked pseudo-3D?

The best site to find new games. You can sort through all the app lab and other games by a variety of factors. I just wish they had a gorilla tag exclusion filter.

This isn't my spreadsheet - but has incredibly detailed reviews of almost every add-on for Half Life. Great way to find the best maps to start out with.

I have a facebook group of VR gamers around Baltimore, but looking for some new people to join us. You don't have to be in Baltimore - just friendly and looking to make some new VR friends.

Most of us are around 40, have kids, and are pretty liberal. We usually pick one group game a week and make a private match. We're pretty average players. We usually mix up the game type each week, typically we play:

Walkabout Mini Golf - we play every new course that gets released

FPS Shooters - After the Fall, Breachers, Contractors

Social Party Games - Cook Out!, Loco Dojo, Among Us ect.

Videos - BigscreenVR - movie or concert, and shared 360 video experiences

App Lab/Horizons/Rec Room Worlds - We try out various apps worlds, often doing escape room types

Still a long way to go, but few people thought getting this far would be possible!

VRG is now a verified mod

This means that you can now join any un-modded server in VR, and other players will not see your game as modded since the mod is now fully client-side.

YouTuber @ThrillSeekerVR has created a downloadable app Quest app that lets you try out the eye-tracked "click" interaction implemented in #VisionPro (only usable if you have a #QuestPro, since it features eye tracking). I gave this a shot and it works surprisingly well. It shows that the #QuestPro eye tracking is easily good enough to do this, as well as the hand tracking and cameras it is fitted with to detect the "click" of the fingers.

Anyone curious about how this interaction works and what #VisionPro will be like should give it a try (if you have access to a #QuestPro).

We're a startup looking for feedback on this beta software. The idea is to vape/smoke/snus during short 'aversion' sessions in VR, and then quitting (for most people) happens automatically (the tobacco suddenly tastes/smells terrible).

There's also some coaching and anxiety exercises.

It's our 1.0, so if you have any feedback please let us know!
